TIL updated physical Apple Stores are no longer blindingly white inside, but also they make you stand in specific places so you can’t try to get out of the way and away from loud people so there’s no escape from over stimulation #ActuallyAutistic hell at the Apple Store continues, oh well.

As my psychiatrist dropped me for refusing to use Zoom, she said "She was using it this whole time."

Failure to self advocate effectively (or more accurately, failure of them to listen to my objections till I got loud enough) should not be mistaken for agreement or consent!

Sounds like I needed a new psychiatrist anyway.

I talked a boatload of shit today about RFK, the Federal judiciary enabling Ostarbeiter to take place in the US, RFK's desire for concentration camps for ADHD & autistic folks, & the DOJ dropping charges on the Texas doctor who went after trans patients & violated HIPAA.

At the end of the day, every patient agreed that deleting their ASD diagnosis was the right thing to do right now.

Why do I share this?

Im urging all providers to have similar conversations with patients before September. Some may glean services from ASD diagnosis. Factor in a risks benefit discussion. Let them decide.

It's urgent.

Same. Like a lot of #ActuallyAutistic people, I don't sleep well, and #CBD shortly before bed helps. In fact, I started taking CBD soon after it became legal here, some years before I knew I was autistic.

I now use oil rather than capsules, because oil gives me finer control over the dose and it works out cheaper than other formats. You do have to be careful not to spill it on your top, though: it stains.

I've used #GinkgoBiloba for several decades. It sharpens both my reactions and my cognition.

I take #curcumin for other reasons, but I find it improves my working memory and my digestion as well. Simple turmeric is poorly absorbed and often contaminated with lead, so anyone wanting to experiment with it would be well advised to use a modern, safer, more bioavailable preparation.

"RFK Jr pledges to find the cause of autism by September"

"By September, we will know what has caused the autism epidemic and we'll be able to eliminate those exposures," Kennedy said."

Meaning he's gonna lie again and say it's vaccines or some crap as usual.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 531 , Friday 11/04/2025

Up at 06:15, went downstairs to spend some time with Mrs S, but she had already had her breakfast & was doing her ironing.
Then she vanished upstairs, the cats & her book more interesting than I.

I did my chores then went for a short walk, a slightly different route & discovered a hidden glade, within a stones throw of my usual route!
There were 2 carved birds - stylised crows I think, standing guard over the glade.

I read for a few hours, there was stuff in the garden to do but I really did not have the motivation to get out there.

Played some NMS to end the afternoon, tracked down a VERY popular Sentinel Interceptor ship judging from the fact that there were a stupid number of bases built in the vicinity - it does look gorgeous though & even without mods its fast!

Pizza for tea & a double helping of ‘Waking the dead’ to accompany it made for an enjoyable evening.

Final Thoughts.

Even in the sun it’s been somewhat of a bläh kind of a day, I’m not sure if it’s the events of the week catching up with me or what it is.

Hey ho, day by day until the last day I guess.

Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

Oh, is that why I'm so fond of pickled beetroot? 😄

Joking aside, roughly 70% of #autism is inherited via the genes. I fear the outcome of #RFK Jr's bogus work will be a lot worse than some dodgy supplement: if he acknowledges genetic heritability then it'll be a nudge towards eugenics (forced sterilisation of #ActuallyAutistic adults?) and, if he doesn't, it'll be a fraudulent excuse to ban life-saving vaccines.

Some of the actual causes of the surge in autism diagnoses are given here:

edition.cnn.com/2025/04/10/hea

"Researchers who study autism say that rates are on the rise for a few reasons, including increased awareness, broader definitions of what constitutes autism, improved screening tools and processes, and earlier detection. Its cause isn’t fully understood, but factors including genetics as well as advanced parental age, prenatal exposure to air pollution or certain pesticides, and other environmental influences are thought to play a role.

"What doesn’t: vaccines."

@UP8 @llPK It sounds like you are working through your issues, but what the actual fuck? What I study and practice in my “social movements … in disability, pain, suffering, and marginalization” is how to live a happy life despite my disability, how to reduce my pain and suffering, and how to fight back against the marginalization from ablists. Whether it is my autism, long covid, or osteoarthritis, the first step towards a better life was recognizing clearly the challenges I face. This then enabled me to make the changes I need to make to overcome those challenges. Still working on that part, but I could not have come as far as I have without the support of other #actuallyAutistic people and others with #LongCovid.

Replied to Paul Houle

@UP8 @llPK that is a fucked up thing to say.

I am sorry for your own suffering. And yeah, the people who talk about autism but don’t have it are bad and dangerous.

But there is no “autism industrial complex”. And people who “flock” to the #actuallyautistic tag do it for care, community, and help, not for suffering and pain.

Finding out I am autistic, and that I am not alone in my experiences, has been a huge gift and a great source of comfort for me. And it has made me a dramatically better father to my autistic kids.

You and your problems don’t mean you get to shit on me and my life.

@llPK ... and that many if not most of the people who flock to the #actuallyautistic hashtag are #surelyschizotypal instead (try some social anhedonia!) It is complicated as hell, schizotypy is obscure because the compelling but wrong viewpoint of Lezengreber was defeated in academia by the diffuse but more correct viewpoint of Claridge ...

People should definitely read more philosophy and sociology. It's also a matter of critical thinking. The medical model has lots of methodological and ethical issues when it comes to autism. There are lots of "facts" on autism that the evidence relies on just one autistic boy or a very small group of them, the studies are not reproducible, etc.

The biopsychosocial model explains it better. The social aspect should not be put aside. It's actually a big part if not the biggest. Because what allows people to fetishize autistics and autistic life is the medical model. Autistics are seen as powerless objects. Lots use this false narrative about us to fetishize and to gain power over a group of people. It's the perverted history of autism. A minority seen as near animals that we can use to accomplish whatever we want with them.

This is a social and systemic issue. We see it with autistics but also with every minority at one point in the history. The fetishism occurs as autistics are put in a state of weakness with a model presenting us as having/being a deficit. The autistic people are presented as lacking knowledge about themselves and other things. This let them after Foucault with little to no power and remove our liberty. People do it consciously.

When this mechanism is in place, people will reproduce it again and again. Fetishism is a new form of reproduction of this deficit model.

If you want, I recommend Foucault, Bourdieu, Fanon. Just the lecture of Fanon itself will show the same vocabulary used against us and colonized people. Bourdieu is on social reproduction. Foucault is about the relationship between power, knowledge, and liberty.

Was mich in der Gruppentherapie triggert?

#ScribesAndMakers 4/10. Show us a book cover you like. What makes it special?

This is the cover of my fourth Wolf book.

I love it so much because the designer got both Ashley and Connor so right. I remember that when I got it, I used to pull it up and just stare at it.

You see, I often can't see the faces of my characters in clarity while I write them. Sometimes, only the cover fixes their faces for me. (#ActuallyAutistic)

Anyway, enjoy "A Wolf's Fury".
