@binarydigit Lose It is so unhealthy for me due to how I obsess over the numbers, and the guilt I feel if I go over... but I find that it keeps me in check. I've gone back to using it for the past 90 days myself (after not using it for YEARS)
@jedda I hope you give yourself grace and it's just a guide, not perfection! But yeah I want it to just keep me realistic and realize what I'm doing to myself. It's the toughest thing to manage for me in the last 10 years hah
@binarydigit I'm definitely learning to do so. I restarted it to be more aware. I keep reminding myself that it is a guideline and not a hard fast rule. It's definitely eye opening seeing how many calories everything is when you really start counting every little thing.
Looking forward to reading about your journey. Perhaps find some way to keep each other accountable unintentionally too.
@jedda I’m definitely down for that
@binarydigit Hope you send the big A packin, B.
@bear Thank you my bear friend
@binarydigit it's so hard. I've always had a body that gets tired fast and ravenously hungry and I only ever gain weight without intervention - even when I'm super active it tends to just slowly gain.
I've reached my limit again and the tiredness is making me a worse mother so I've been bothering the endocrinologist to see whether I can be helped. We're fairly sure I'm somewhat insulin resistant.
Anyway solidarity because it sucks having to monitor intake.
@sarajw thank you friend. I wish you luck as well! the lack of energy is the worst tbh
@binarydigit it really is. Basically no one eats their way into high A1Cs or overweightness on purpose.
Either we're all stuck with no time to eat a healthy balanced diet, or all we can access or afford is high carb stuff, or sugar crashes and lows give us the jitters and brain fog and hangriness (it me).
I feel I have no time left to exercise for myself - the exercise I do get is riding kids to school or daycare, running after buses or trains, walking to office - not quite enough probably.
@sarajw Exactly right, no one eats their way into high A1C or obesity on purpose :(
@binarydigit shame so much of the messaging and advice assumes that people do.
Some bodies prefer to store the energy more than others, other bodies almost push it to the muscles.
We all know someone skinny as a rake who eats like a horse and is full of energy all the time - uncontrollable leg jiggles and such. It's totally unsurprising that the other end of the spectrum exists too, people who eat carefully and whose bodies like to pack away the energy.
@binarydigit *hugs* I’d like to join you in your journey… in support and in being more mindful about movement whenever and however I can get it in without hurting my health. It’s a huge challenge - especially since I’ve always had a complicated relationship with food.
@britt thank you friend
@binarydigit @britt I need to get back on the treadmill next week.
I'm here to support both of you.
