I still get a kick out of my artisanally-sharpened pencil from David Rees.
Speaking of David Rees, I recommend his book, "How To Sharpen Pencils". Here's the entirety of chapter 11...
@jbaty This is excruciatingly artisanal, and I mean that in a positive light. I imagine that #FountainPen people would get a kick / be kicked by this.
@wordsmith @jbaty oh we definitely do
@jbaty oh this is delightful! (though I would never use that pencil again)
@drhope It's never been used at all :). I don't even take the little protective cap off.
@jbaty wow that is indeed beautiful sharpening
I'm an artist; I've seen other artists sharpen pencils so clean and efficiently with razor blades. Whenever I've tried I just end up nicking the wood and breaking the graphite lol
@jbaty I mean, he's not wrong
@whoa You're probably in the minority for Rees' audience. Don't tell anyine, but I use a mechanical pencil when I'm out :)
