I have switched from #YouTube to #Piped (thanks @kavin) and @libretube - and one thing that could make the experience even cooler would be #ActivityPub integration. While we can't interact with the original comments, we could create our own communities around the content, on our own #fediverse terms.
The same could go for @invidious too, btw.

It doesn't even have to be deep integration, rendering instances into full-blown #ActivityPub instances, just something similar to, or actually the same as what @cassidy has on the blog.

Maybe one quirk to be figured out is that the same comments for one video are displayed on every instance, so relying on some ActivityPub relay, rather than disconnected comments and communities on the various instances. In the end, we are still dealing with YouTube content.
